The red bullseye at 351 US 183 lit up on Oct. 6. Liberty Hill's Target is a 148,000-square-foot store with a Starbucks and a CVS Pharmacy inside, plus order pickup and same-day delivery, Community Impact reported. For anyone in Clearwater Ranch, the wooded acreage community whose builder points to its access to Hwy. 183, the store sits on the road the neighborhood already uses.
The Target is only the most visible change. This fall's openings and announcements show Liberty Hill's commercial growth splitting along two highways. US 183 is collecting the errand stops: the big-box anchor, a discount retailer, a bank branch, a nail salon and a fuel stop. Hwy. 29 is collecting places to eat. Downtown Main Street still hosts the town's holiday events. Each corridor is also moving at a different speed.
The Target Took Longer Than Its Paperwork Said
The Target is the anchor of Liberty Hill Crossing, a shopping center developed by Property Commerce. The City Council approved the site plan for the roughly 35.5-acre development at its Jan. 8, 2025 meeting, according to Community Impact. State licensing records cited in that story put the store's construction cost at $22 million and its scheduled finish at June 4, 2026.
The store opened about four months after that date. Even the September forecast missed: Community Impact's September business roundup listed Oct. 11 as opening day, and the store opened five days early. That roundup also said the store would include an integrated Apple section and offer drive-up service through the Target Circle 360 membership program. The company expected the store to create more than 200 jobs.
The four-month gap matters because the rest of the center is following the anchor, and most of what's announced around it has 2027 dates.
What Fills In Around It, and When
The table below lists everything announced on this stretch of US 183, in order of address. Some are open. Most are not.
| Business | Address | Status as of late October 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| United Heritage Credit Union | 135 US 183 | Broke ground Aug. 25; opening early 2027 |
| Target | 351 US 183 | Opened Oct. 6 |
| T.J. Maxx | 353 N. US 183, Ste. 300 | Permit-estimated completion of Aug. 15, 2026 |
| Milano Nail Spa | 353 US 183, Ste. 470 | Construction planned to start in November; completion forecast for May 2027 |
| 7-Eleven | Liberty Hill Crossing | Announced; no address or date given |
| Foodie's Corner | 1487 US 183 | Opened Aug. 28 |
In June, Community Impact reported that T.J. Maxx would take 25,304 square feet of lease space in Liberty Hill Crossing, with an Aug. 15 estimated completion date drawn from state licensing filings. That estimate was for finishing construction, not an opening date. The Liberty Hill Independent reported the 7-Eleven as part of the same shopping center.
The United Heritage Credit Union branch sits next to the Target but isn't listed as part of the center. The not-for-profit cooperative started in Austin in 1957. Farther up the highway, Foodie's Corner is family-owned, with 12 fueling stations, three diesel spots and an in-house kitchen, Picante Tex-Mex Grill, that serves breakfast and lunch.
Everything in that table is an errand: groceries and household goods, prescriptions, a bank, a nail appointment, fuel. Picante's counter is the only food on the list. Liberty Hill's restaurants are opening on the other highway.
Hwy. 29 Is Turning Into Liberty Hill's Food Corridor
Along Hwy. 29, nearly every recent opening and announcement serves food or drinks. In order of date:
- Rodeo Mexican Kitchen & Bar opened Aug. 26 at 13750 W. Hwy. 29. It comes from the owners of Marisol's Mexican Grill in Georgetown, and the menu includes ceviche, pozole and chile verde.
- Whataburger, the chain's first Liberty Hill location, was set to open Oct. 19 at 12925 Hwy. 29. The day started with a 9 a.m. ribbon-cutting, and public service began at 11 a.m. The restaurant was set to employ 73 local workers, according to the company's release.
- FiiZ Drinks is targeting a late-2026 opening at 15050 W. Hwy. 29. Its menu centers on "dirty soda," which is soda mixed with flavored syrups, cream, juice, fruit or candy, and it also sells other drinks and snacks.
- QuesaLab is planned for 13900 W. Hwy. 29, Ste. 100. The quesadilla restaurant will have a drive-through and a dining room, and construction is forecast to finish in April 2027, per Community Impact.
- P. Terry's is planned for 10990 Hwy. 29. Construction is scheduled to start Jan. 7, 2027, and finish July 26, 2027. The Liberty Hill Independent noted that no opening date had been announced.
Hwy. 29 also has the same 2027 dates as US 183. Two of the five are open now, one is due before the year ends, and two won't be ready until spring or summer 2027.
One non-food business is coming off this list. Gracie Barra's Brazilian jiu-jitsu academy was scheduled to open Nov. 1 at 201 St. Joseph Court, Ste. 510, with classes for students as young as one.
Main Street Still Holds the Calendar
Neither highway has taken over what downtown does. The clearest sign this fall came from the city itself. Parker's Mercantile, which Community Impact called an "iconic Liberty Hill institution," reopened Sept. 4 at 1017 Main St. with live music, food, drinks and Texas-made goods. The owner of Wish Kitchen + Bar leases the space from the City of Liberty Hill.
The holiday calendar also runs through downtown. These dates come from the town's Experience LHTX listings and could change before the day:
- Wednesdays, Nov. 4, 11, 18 and 25, and Dec. 2. Texas Red's Taproom Trivia at Liberty Hill Beer Market.
- Saturday, Nov. 28, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The Christmas tree lighting at the Downtown Roundabout.
- Saturday, Dec. 12. The Liberty Hill Christmas Festival takes the whole day. The Jingle Bell Run starts at 8 a.m. at Santa Rita Middle School, the downtown festival runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the parade goes down Main Street at 6 p.m.
What the Next Year Looks Like From Clearwater Ranch
Across both corridors, most of this year's arrivals are already open: Target, Foodie's Corner, Rodeo, Parker's Mercantile and, if it kept its date, Whataburger. The next group mostly lands in 2027. FiiZ is the only one targeting the rest of this year. The credit union is due in early 2027, QuesaLab's construction is forecast to finish in April and Milano's in May, and P. Terry's construction runs through late July. T.J. Maxx and the 7-Eleven were announced for the center without opening dates attached.
For a neighborhood on the US 183 side, the near-term change is mostly about errands. Groceries, household goods, a pharmacy counter and a coffee line are now at one address on the highway Clearwater Ranch already uses. The new restaurants are a short drive away on Hwy. 29. For the season's events, downtown is still the place, starting with the Nov. 28 tree lighting at the roundabout.
The roughly 35.5-acre site at 351 US 183 has gone from a site plan to an open store in under two years. Its remaining tenants will open over the next year, and so will the restaurants on Hwy. 29.
